Before proceeding to the next step, which involves contacting the seller and collecting your item, your payment must first be cleared. If you chose EFT as your payment option, it normally takes up to 2 business days for your payment to clear. However, if you chose an instant payment method like Snapscan or paid using your Visa/Mastercard, the payment will reflect immediately. Please see the images below for what is shown when your payment has been cleared versus when it is still pending.
Before you can directly contact a seller, you must have made payment for the item that is being sold in order for it to be reserved for you. On receipt of your payment, your buy-request on the platform will show as follows :
A link to download the QR code is sent to you via email after you have made purchase and your payment was received. However, you can also download the QR code on the platform anytime. To do that, simply navigate to the page of the textbook/item you made payment for and the link to download the QR code will be at the top of the page as shown below:
You give it to the seller when you collect your item or when you have received the package delivered to you.
A buy-request is a request from a buyer to purchase the item you are selling. As the seller, you need to review the buy-request and accept it if you want the buyer to proceed to make payment.
Here are the key things you need to check on a buy-request before you accept it.
a) Method of collection
On each buy-request, the buyer will indicate if they want to collect the item you are selling on campus, or if they want it to be shipped to them. If the latter (they want you to courier the item) then you need to adjust the price taking into consideration the cost for shipping.
b) Offered price
If the price of the item you are selling is negotiable, then the buyer may make an offer to you to purchase the item at a different price. Review the price they want to purchase the item for before you accept it. You may adjust the price to make a different offer if needed.
To adjust the price of a buy-request, first navigate to the page of the item you are selling, then on the buy request, click on review this or modify details if already accepted, then do as shown below:
Before you can directly contact a buyer, the person must have made payment for the item that is being sold in order for it to be reserved for them. On receipt of their payment, we will notify you and the buy-request on the platform will show as follows :
When you deliver the item to the buyer, he/she will provide you with a QR-code that you will scan with your phone. If you cannot scan the code then you can enter the access-code shown on the document manually on the platform. The QR code document is shown below:
You first need to deliver the item to the buyer and scan the QR-code he/she gives to you; If you cannot scan the QR-code then simply enter the access-code shown on that document on the platform (see How do collections work? for more details). Thereafter, the plaform will allow you to provide your payment details for us to pay the money owed to you.
When the QR-code has been scanned successfully and the transaction is now complete, the buy-request will display as shown on the image below. Simply click on provide payment details to proceed.
The fee that we charge for the transactions is not fixed and can vary from time to time. But in general, the fee is 3% to 8% of the value of the item you are selling.
Please refer to our pricing and fees structure for more information.
Should this pricing change, this page will be updated.
